Agriculture

Get here an overview of the agriculture of Wine grapes in India. Farming has always been practiced in India from centuries. Even Wine making was encouraged in India long back during the time of the Portuguese and British.

The Vineyards are planted at higher altitudes at the slopes of mountains. This is because the hillsides give the benefit of cooler air and some protection from wind. Vines are often trained on bamboo and wire in a pergola to increase canopy cover. This is to get the grapes off the ground where they would be more prone to diseases. The drip irrigation method is used to give the vines constant and proportional water supply. The vines also need frequent pruning throughout the year. The harvesting is done manually in September.
