How To Read Wine Labels
Learn here some tips to read the wine labels with ease. The Wine labels seem to be a very confusing affair specially to the beginners or inexperienced wine drinkers. The foreign symbols, words and numbers can be very frightening. Many a times we just look at the simple labels with pretty pictures and buy our wine.
To help you understand how to read a wine label better let us take a video example.
Most of the wine labels either the wine is from India or else where has these information on them.
- BRAND : The brand name of the wine, this could also be any person’s name like the name of the owner.
- CLASS : This defines the type of the wine that is packed in the bottle like red, sparkling, rose, fruit, imitation. It may also have text like “light wine,” “red table wine,” “light white wine,” “sweet table wine,” etc.
- ALCOHOL CONTENT : The percentage of alcohol that the wine contains. This is a must on any wines containing more than 14% alcohol by volume.
- WHO & WHERE BOTTLED : This gives the address of the winery where the wine was made and the place where it was bottled. The terms like “Cellared,” “Vinted,” or “Prepared” are used to specify these details.
- QUANTITY OF CONTENTS : The amount of wine that is bottled is specified either in Oz or ml.
- VINTAGE DATING {OPTIONAL} : If it is a vintage wine then the date of when the wine was manufactured is also mentioned on the bottle.
