Indian Food With Wine
To enjoy a Wine party to its fullest it becomes necessary to have a good food and wine combination. Get here the glimpse of some of the golden rules for pairing the Indian food with Wines. The typical Indian cuisine has so many variations and spices used in it that it is rather difficult to match wines with it. Yet experts have come up with the following basic rules.
- The spices in the Indian cuisine produces heat that makes it a tricky challenge to combine it with wines.
- The general rule that is followed all over the world is the combo of Red wine with meats, and white wine with poultry, fish & seafood.
- An off-dry Gewurztraminer or Riesling Wine goes well with spicy Indian foods.
- The above combo is great since the sugar in the wine counters the heat and spice of the food.
- The popular German “Gewurztraminer” goes well with food rich in herbs, masalas or seasonings, ginger and cardamom.
- The Riesling Wines are a perfect pairing to heavy and rich Indian cuisine.
- The Rose Wines are great with heavy meat dishes, like lamb or beef.
- The Sparkling wines, like Champagne are good combo with rich & creamy curry, or something heavy like paneer and potatoes.
- The popular Red Wine “Pinot Noir” goes well with all types of spicy or tangy, chicken, seafood or veggies or cheese dishes.
