- Why are red wines red and white wines white?
The white wines mostly come from white grapes and red wines come from black grapes. The Red wines take their color from the grape’s skin, which is left on the fruit during the crush and fermentation process. As in the case of the White Wines the grape skins are removed before the crush. - Why swirl wine in a glass when tasting?
Swirling wine against the sides of the glass allows the wine to breathe, which brings out a stronger aroma thus appealing the eyes, nose and the taste buds completely. - How long after the harvest is the wine ready to drink?
This depends on the wine that is to be produced. Yet, wines can take as little as two months and as long as five years before they’re ready for consumption. - How many vines are required to make one bottle of wine ?
Approximately 400 grapes a bottle or say about 1.5 – 1 kg per bottle. - Why age wine in wood barrels?
Since wood is porous, and allows oxygen to seep into the wine while it ferments thus improving its texture.
